Fiberglass Window Screens
The most common type of window screens are made with
insect screen material made of vinyl coated fiberglass. It is standard on most new construction homes and apartments. It also makes a great economical replacement window screen on older homes. Fiberglass is a very forgiving fabric that springs back into shape if pushed on or bumped accidentally. The vinyl coating assures that your window screens will last longer exposed to the weather elements.
Aluminum Window Screens
Found on many older homes,
aluminum window screensare durable, resists rust and sagging. The aluminum screens have a protective coating that prevents corrosion and strengthens the mesh. Great for matching existing
aluminum window screens or upgrades. The black color
aluminum screen has been known for it's good outward visibility among standard type insect screens.
No-See-Um Window Screens
These special window screens have a
fiberglass mesh that is tighter than standard to help keep out smaller insects such as sand fleas and the no-see-um bugs typically found in coastal or marshy areas. The mesh count (threads per square inch) is 20 x 30 as compared to the standard 18 x 16 mesh insect screens.
Solar Insect Window Screens
Similar to the no-see-um mesh, thesolar insect window screensalso have a 20 x 30 mesh fiberglass. They look similar to a standard window screen when installed on your windows, but only slightly darker. The solar insect window screens help cool your home by blocking up to 60% of the sun's heat before it reaches the window glass. This translates in to cooler rooms and lower cooling costs in warm climates.
